At the beginning of Chapter 4, Gatsby gets Nick for lunch in his fancy yellow car. On the way Gatsby talks about how he became him even though it isn't really true. He talks about how he was an oxford man and also was a war hero. Though it all seemed like a tall tale, which it was, Gatsby has a picture for proof and a medal to prove it. Gatsby then asks him to go with Ms. Jordan to tea. Once getting into the city, Gatsby introduces Nick to a business partner Mr. Wolfsheim. Apparently Mr. Wolfsheim fixed the World series of 1919 and has molar teeth cufflinks. Tom Buchanin comes along and when Nick wants to introduce Gatsby he seems to be not around. Later when Jordan and Nick have tea, she explains how Daisy and Gatsby know each other. Basically they used to be lovers before the war. Gatsby never really gave Daisy any contact during and after the war so Daisy agreed to marry Tom. The night before the wedding she got a letter from Gatsby and she gets drunk and doesn't want to marry Tom. After recently hearing about Gatsby, Daisy realized it was Jay. Gatsby requested that Nick invite Daisy for tea so Gatsby could come by.
It seems like everyone is making everything so complicated in the story. I also noticed that we don't really know what Nick really looks like. Also I'm pretty sure Gatsby didn't talk to Daisy after the war because he is trying to get money so she will love him more. I think he throws big parties to get her attention. Gatsby makes up all this hype about himself so Daisy will come back and he won't seem powerless.
